Goals and impact
Sharks led a consortium composed by a Croatian finswimming club and a Maltese water polo club. The project Water Sports Festival went beyond promoting water sports, as it encouraged a new athletic approach and fostered social connections and diverse sports engagement.
The grassroot organization implementing the project ensured close collaboration, expertise sharing, and exchanged water sports techniques and training approaches. Sharks introduced the concept of swimrun and its training methods and endurance approach, and received methods of developing buoyancy from water polo and legs kick from finswimming.
This was done to strengthen its athletes’ capacities and overall vision and to complement mental and physical preparedness to competitions. WSF embraced inclusivity and grassroots values, and aims at a global impact, teamwork, and a love for physical activity and outdoor exploration. The project motto was, “Together, we can create a positive sports culture that unites us towards a common goal.”
